Biography

 

Niall is originally from Scotland and is a freelance musician. 

He moved to London in and has worked on over forty productions as Musical Director, Chorus Master or Pit Musician including Blood Brothers, Jesus Christ Superstar, Return to the Forbidden Planet, Hair and Into the Woods.  Most recently Niall was Musical Director for a revue he compiled of the songs of William Finn.  The sell-out production played initially at Jermyn Street Theatre in London.  A second production, produced in association with the Ambassador Theatre Group transferred the show to Trafalgar Studios.  

Recently Niall was Musical Director for the UK Tour of Mephistopheles Smith and Chorus Master for the Royal Festival Hall production of Sweeney Todd - featuring Bryn Terfel, Maria Friedman, Phillip Quast, Daniel Evans, Rosemary Ashe, Emma Williams and Daniel Boys.

Niall is also a freelance tutor and has worked with prestigious performing arts institutions Guildford School of Acting, Mountview Academy and Arts Ed.  There he has worked on a number of productions with the students on the undergraduate and postgraduate Acting and Musical Theatre courses including Company, Grand Hotel, Chaplin, A Little Sondheim on the Side and The Gathering Storm - a new musical specially commissioned by the Guildford School of Acting and written by Paul Kessell-Holland and Nicholas Scrivens.

 
Niall runs his own production company - Dab Hand Productions. 

Future plans include a series of revues showcasing the lesser known works of Broadway composers.
